AMARU
Born and raised in DC, AMARU is a musician, performing artist, and songwriter. He is a graduate of SEED School of DC and Morehouse College where he earned a degree in Music Performance while performing with the Jazz Orchestra and Glee Club. After graduating college, AMARU wrote, and produced, his debut Project "Childish Things" which he self-released in 2018. Over the course of his musical career, he has collaborated with a breadth of artists, composers, and musicians and performed at venues such as U St Music Hall, Songbyrd Music House, Beyond Studios DC, World Live Cafe, The Kennedy Center, and Blue Note Jazz Club. As a performer and Teaching Artist, AMARU has traveled throughout the US and internationally, to provide educational and consulting services in collaboration with education-based non-profit organizations that support the academic and artistic development of high school students. He has worked with organizations such as UNCF, The SEED Foundation, and the Center for Talented Youth Program at the University of Hong Kong. As a district resident, he plans, produces, and performs at concerts, pop-ups, and arts-based events throughout the district. AMARU is currently producing his second music project "What Friends R4", and launching an event management company that specializes in curating exceptional arts-centered events in the DC metropolitan area and beyond.
