Janelle Harris

A writer since she won a crisp dollar bill in an elementary school essay contest, Janelle uses her storytelling platform to explore the experiences, challenges and diversities of people of color, particularly Black folks, whom she loves fiercely. Her work as a journalist and editor covers race, class, gender and culture and has appeared in more than 40 publications including Essence, Buzzfeed, The Root, Vice, Rolling Stone and Elle. She owns a boutique editorial services agency called The Write or Die Chick, where she creates culturally competent content for clients, from government contractors to nonprofit organizations. Janelle is honored and excited to join 202Creates as a resident to learn the art of podcasting, maybe explore some very beginner’s photography and reignite her creative fire by trying new methods of interactive storytelling.
