Kaelan Hollon

Kaelan Hollon is owner of American Monsters Photography (www.americanmonstersphoto.com) a portrait photography and costume design service based near H Street NE, Washington, DC. Kaelan uses handmade costumes, dreamlike set design, and vintage ephemera to explore the weirder side of studio portraits and storytelling. She began collecting and building costumes nearly 13 years ago, coaxing friends to pose with a variety of oddities and thereafter building photographic narratives to suit. She will be using the 202Creates opportunity to expand her portfolio and help tell the stories of several new muses based in DC, building large and complex costume pieces to help to share peoples’ personality and story in a startling new way. She is particularly interested in working with underserved populations or fringe communities who may struggle to articulate their creative narrative, and will be working closely to help people in these communities share their perspective and experiences.
