Kathy Pugh
Hi, I’m Kathy Pugh and I’m an accomplished runner, coach, writer, health and wellness speaker, workshop facilitator, playwright, marketer and entrepreneur. In an effort to emerge from my postpartum depression, I started running and was inspired to create Kathy Pugh Running, LLC.
As the owner of Kathy Pugh Running, LLC, I motivate women (and some men) to push their limits while nurturing a love of their bodies and of running. I design and conduct training for runners at all levels, host running retreats, lead and instruct up to 50 runners at a time, deliver motivational performances as Marathon Mama (my one-woman comedic look at how running pulled me out of postpartum depression), and design and lead workshops on health and wellness. A three time Boston Marathon qualifier, I served as Director of Training and a Board Member of the DC Road Runners Club, a Road Runners Club of America Certified Run Coach, a NESTA Certified Run Coach, Board Certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners and an Institute of Integrative Nutrition Certified Holistic Health Coach. I have a proven success record for developing strategies that yield results for both individuals and organizations. From the casinos of Las Vegas as a financial analyst to the wineries of California as a sales and marketing professional to the U.S. Census Bureau as an education survey statistician, I draw on my ability to connect with people and motivate them to action.
My articles on running have been published in Runners World and the New York Times. In addition, I have been featured as a running and fitness expert by The Washington Post and Washingtonian magazine. I hold an MBA from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Binghamton University.
I am thrilled to be a part of the 202Creates Residency Program and look forward to learning from this incredibly talented group on how to publish and market my book, More Than Miles: A Woman’s Guide to Running for the Body, Mind and Sole as well as how to integrate my blog, social media presence, boot camps, newsletter, one-woman show, and book into a marketable package to reach and impact more women. I would also like to learn how to create a podcast geared toward women’s wellness. Finally I’d like to gather information on how to write and publish a children’s book based on an essay I wrote entitled, My Daughter’s Giraffe is Jewish (It is something I’ve thought about doing for ten years so I’d say it’s about time I did something about it, don’t you?).
