Marjuan Canady

Marjuan Canady is an award-winning Caribbean-American director, writer, producer, actress, entrepreneur, and educator. A native Washingtonian, her work spans theater, film, television, children’s media and literature. She is the CEO and Author of the children’s media brand Callaloo, president of her production company Sepia Works and her non-profit, Canady Foundation for the Arts. Her work has been seen at The Kennedy Center, Sesame Street, The Smithsonian, The Lincoln Center for Performing Arts, Miami Book Fair, Ryan Seacrest Foundation and the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute. She has held fellowships at The Schomburg Center, the DC Commission on the Arts, the Caribbean Cultural Center, Lincoln Center, and Harlem Stage. Canady is a graduate of Duke Ellington School of the Arts and holds her BA in Theater and African Studies from Fordham University and her Masters in Arts Politics from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. For the 202Creates Residency, Marjuan will be producing her new podcast, “The Artistpreneur”.
