Kimberly gaines | artist
Kimberly C. Gaines is an arts administrative professional with a background in visual art, arts education and development. She is a member and alum of American Association of University Women (AAUW). Her educational and nonprofit experience includes media empowerment facilitation for youth, curriculum development and management. Kimberly has facilitated projects and workshops for youth with NBC 4, the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), various Smithsonian Museums, and the Black Women’s Roundtable. Kimberly was co-producer and creative director of DeanwoodxDesign, a $75,000 ArtPlace Temporium in Washington DC. Her photography and design work highlight various professional accomplishments including projects for the Museum of the African Diaspora permanent exhibition, work for the Smithsonian Institution's’ National Portrait Gallery, an exhibition at the American University’s Katzen Arts Center and the photo archives of Washington Express Newspaper and Washington City Paper. Kimberly continues to work with youth bridging creative sciences of photography, film and graphic design; most recently, as a City Producer for the Inaugural High School 48 Hour Film Project.
