Victoria N. Ford
Victoria Newton Ford is a poet and essayist from Memphis, Tennessee, currently based in Washington, DC. As an artist, she believes documenting her observations of the worlds that Black queer women and nonbinary folks inhabit is a form of survival. Victoria has received fellowships and support from Lambda Literary, the Hurston/Wright Foundation, the DC Center for the LGBT Community, the YoungArts Foundation, and Scholastic National Writing Awards. Her writing has appeared in Wild Age Press, Connotations Press: An Online Artifact, The Nation, Literary Hub, and elsewhere.
In addition to writing, she curates an online book group focusing on Black feminist literature and poetics and teaches poetry workshops for high school students each year through the Kelly Writers’ House at Penn. She is currently working on her first manuscript about Black mothers and daughters, addiction, incarceration, and the South.
