Charneice Fox Richardson is an award-winning producer, screenwriter, playwright, published poet, children’s story author, director of film and theater, and 202Creates Resident Alum! Her debut narrative feature film "Love Dot Com," a love story to Washington DC, had its world premiere at the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) in Miami in 2019 and is currently streaming on Netflix.

What are you currently working on?

I am currently writing another feature film called, "Children's Story," and is executively producing a film by writer and director, Marcus Richardson, called "A Love Song." I am also promoting her children's story, "The Bread Monster," which is currently available on Amazon.

What is one thing you are most proud of when it comes to your initiative?

I like being able to share stories that have a larger message. My goal is to leave a legacy for my children that has an emphasis on empathy and the importance of perspective - sharing stories is the best way to do that.

What are a few tips you would give to local DC creatives?

Just do the work! If you have a vision, build a team and learn how to get your project finished. I am always a student first. I didn't have an editor for "The MLK Streets Project," so I went and bought Final Cut For Dummies and taught myself how to edit. I also read up on how to market films.

Lastly, don't be afraid of criticism, embrace it and learn from it.

What is the number one thing you love about DC?

"The Culture," and I mean the 80's and 90's culture, that is Rare Essence and Backyard and the poetry on U Street that's where I come from...that was Mango's and Bar Nun...and Bohemian Caverns. The City is vibrant today because of that backbone.
